In the latest Corruption Perception Index (CPI), Nigeria has climbed to the 145th position among 180 countries, scoring 25 out of 100 points.

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Transparency International (TI) revealed this during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

CISLAC’s Executive Director, Auwal Ibrahim Rafsanjani, highlighted that the CPI sourced data from eight globally acclaimed organizations.

The Guardian Nigeria reported that this ranking marks an improvement from 2022, where Nigeria stood at 150th place with 24 points on the corruption index. Notably, this is the first CPI released since Bola Tinubu assumed the presidency on May 29, 2023.

Rafsanjani expressed concerns about electoral and judicial corruption, emphasizing that despite Electoral Act amendments, the 2023 election did not meet the expectations of Nigerians.
