Zindzi Mandela, eldest daughter of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, has died aged 59.

She reportedly died in a Johannesburg hospital, in the early hours of Monday, July 12. This story has also been confirmed by the Nelson Mandela Foundation. In addition to this confirmation, her son Bambatha shared a photo of his mum, with the caption ‘Rest in Peace’.

Zindzi was well known, not just as Mandela’s daughter, but for her works. She was a poet, who wrote and published poetry, severally. She also served as South Africa’s ambassador to Denmark, which was a position she took up in 2015.
