I Have Performed Well As NANS President- Danielson Bamidele

YOUTHS DIGEST – In an Exclusive Chat with YOUTHSDIGEST’s Olanrewaju Oyedeji and Samuel Opeyemi, the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Danielson Bamidele spoke on his administration and challenges.

Excerpts:

Youths Digest: As the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, have you met expectations of those who elected you?

Bamidele: Yes, I have performed very well. If anyone says I have not performed, you should ask them what input they have made. I do use my own funds to run the affairs of the association, going extra mile to give my best, we do not get funding yet we are proactive at every situation.

Youths Digest: Are you saying you do not receive funds from students Union members especially unions from different schools?

Bamidele: Yes, we do not receive a dime, no student union pays to us any due, and we run on no support from the student union of schools in terms of funding.

Youths Digest: What support do you get from the federal government and state government?

Bamidele: We do not work with the government because doing that will mean something else. For instance, I am going to Bauchi today and I will use funds. Some of our students died during the collapse of a bridge and I will be there, that is how we have been carrying out our activities.

Youths Digest: You must have been enjoying tremendous media support looking at publicity of your tenure?

Bamidele: The media do not cover any of our activities for free, even when we call press conferences, if you do not give them money, they won’t come around. So, we run all of these things spending money

Youths Digest: There has been clamor for transition and a convention for NANS, is there any such in plan?

Bamidele: There is nothing like transition in NANS at the moment, those who are peddling the rumor are just trying to create distraction in leadership.

Youths Digest: What are your plans going forward towards making NANS better and ensuring a representation for students?

Bamidele: I do not have a plan, what I have is implementation of policies we have on ground, so question on my plans do not arrive. Are you not feeling what I have done so far, are you not feeling it?

Youths Digest: Thank you for your time

Bamidele: Thank you too
