Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, has taken steps to address challenges in the domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) market, citing concerns over the recent price surge from N700 to over N900.

The hurdles include forex issues and insufficient domestic supply, prompting President Bola Tinubu’s worries about citizens’ hardships.

Expressing disapproval of multinational firms favoring gas exports over domestic allocation, the minister emphasized Nigeria’s ample gas reserves. He urged the Federal Government’s intervention, stating, “Public interest is the overriding interest.”

Ekpo initiated a committee tasked with recommending solutions within a week to ensure stable gas supply and pricing for Nigerians as the demand rises approaching December.
