Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, unveiled the recruitment of Sam Altman, former OpenAI co-chair, to head a new advanced AI research team. Altman, known for spearheading ChatGPT’s development, is committed to advancing AI despite recent changes.

Nadella expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, highlighting Altman’s role in driving Microsoft’s pioneering AI efforts. 

The announcement follows Altman’s unexpected departure from OpenAI’s board, causing a ripple effect and investor advocacy for his reinstatement.

“The mission continues,” Altman declared on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing his commitment to advancing AI technologies despite recent changes in his professional landscape.

Nadella expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating on X, “Sam Altman, along with OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman and their accomplished team, will be instrumental in driving Microsoft’s pioneering efforts in the field of artificial intelligence.”
