You have 2 days to explain why you gave me ‘fake medical report’, Muhuyi threatens to sue doctor

NEWS DIGEST – Muhuyi Rimingado, the embattled former chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, PCACC, has threatened to drag to court Bayo Ayodele, the doctor who issued him a “fake medical report” to present to the Kano State House of Assembly.

The Kano State House of Assembly had invited Mr Rimingado to appear before its ad-hoc committee investigating a petition against him on Wednesday July 14, 2021.

But Mr Rigingado, while citing health grounds and attaching medical records to boot, demanded a certified true copy of the petition the assembly received against him.

In a letter addressed to Mr Ayodele and signed by Mr Rimingado’s lawyer, Adesina Oke, the former anti-graft boss demanded that the doctor write to the House of Assembly to explain the allegations of forgery.

In the letter, which is copied to the National Hospital Abuja, Mr Rimingado also demanded the lawyer to write to the Kano legislators, “stating the true position of my health and medical fitness” within 48 hours.

“We are solicitors to Muhuyi Magaji of Yahaya Gusau Road, Sharada, Kano State (Hereinafter referred to as our client) and on whose behalf we write this letter to you.

“It is the instruction of our client that you are a medical practitioner and work with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Staff Clinic, Mabushi, Abuja and that he commissioned and retained your services sometime in May, 2021 in your clinic, National Commission for Colleges of Education, Staff Clinic (NCCE), Mabushi, Abuja, for a fee to act as his personal physician when he fell ill.

“It is also the instruction of our client that you requested, as it is customary, for a number of tests to be carried out on him after the physical preliminary observation wherein you personally took/collected his blood, urine, stool and sputum samples which tests were to be carried out in your place of work while you further referred him to Life Bridge Diagnostic Centre located at NO. 15A. Yawun Street, Abuja for further tests.

“It is the position of our client that you further delivered to him a medical report dated 7th July, 2021 personally signed by you from the National Hospital Abuja and on which basis you placed our client on medication and thereafter collected other samples of his blood, urine, stool, and sputum for further tests which is now contained in the medical report from the same National Hospital Abuja of 12th July, 2021.

“It is further instruction of our client that while he was on medication albeit bed-rest on your instructions which presumably has its roots on the various tests and the need to get well, he was unable to honor the invitation from the Kano State House of Assembly to appear before it and he relied on the two medical reports from the National Hospital Abuja and prescriptions thereof, but was shocked to see news reports purportedly issued by the National Hospital Abuja in some national dailies (newspapers) particularly the Daily Nigerian and Azia Online medium alleging that the medical reports are fake. All the documents herein referred to are hereby attached for your necessary action.

“Arising from the foregoing, we have the instructions of our client to make the following urgent demands.

That you respond to the veracity or otherwise of the news reports as same is capable of directing the minds of the Honorable Members of the Kano State House of Assembly on the true state of affairs in respect of my health.
That you personally write a letter within 48 (forty-eight) hours address and same submitted to the Clerk of Kano State House of Assembly stating the true position of my health and medical fitness.

“TAKE NOTICE that should you fail, refuse or neglect in complying with this simple but cogent demand within 2 (two) clear days or 48 (forty-eight) hours, whichever is earlier in time, from the date or time of receipt of this letter, we shall have no other option than to bring an action against you in court without further notice.”
