NEWS DIGEST– Manchester United and Brazilian winger, Antony, has returned to training and is set to be available for selection again, according to an announcement from the club.

The Brazilian star was placed on paid vacation earlier this month to focus on addressing the assault charges made against him by three women. Antony, upon his return to the UK on Tuesday night after confirming with the police in Sao Paulo that he had permission to leave Brazil, voluntarily met with the Greater Manchester Police on Thursday.

The club believes that Antony has provided sufficient evidence to support his strong denial of the allegations brought against him, as he was neither arrested nor imprisoned following the interrogation. Consequently, he was allowed to return home without any restrictions.

However, he will not participate in training at Carrington on Friday or be involved in the upcoming game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday. Manchester United released a statement stating that Antony’s situation will be continually reviewed as the case develops further.

The statement further emphasized that since the allegations were first made in June, Antony has been cooperating with the ongoing investigations carried out by the police authorities in both Brazil and the UK. The club, as Antony’s employer, has decided to allow him to resume training at Carrington and be eligible for selection while the police inquiries continue. The situation will be closely monitored, taking into account any significant developments in the case.
