NEWS DIGEST – A suspected stealer of electrical cables, 31-year-old Sani Mohammed, on Friday appeared in an Upper
Sharia Court, Kaduna.

Mohammed, who resides at Taiwo Road in Kaduna, was, however, released on bail in the sum of N200, 000 with a surety.

He is facing a three-count charge of criminal trespass, conspiracy  and stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor Abubakar Shehu told the court that Mohammed committed the offences on Dec. 29 at Marafa Estate,
Kaduna.

Shehu said the complainant, Jafaru Idris of Marafa Estate, reported the theft at Gabasawa Police Station.

According to him, the accused entered the complainant’s house in the estate by scaling the fence before stealing the electric cables
which value was yet to be estimated.

“The complainant caught the accused in the act and raised alarm and with the help of some neighbours, he was arrested and handed
over to the police.”

The offences contravened Sections 262, 288 and  348 and of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Mr Abdullahi Jumare, adjourned the case until Jan. 31. (NAN)
