The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has lauded the Supreme Court’s recent decision to grant financial autonomy to local governments.
In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, NLC President Joe Ajaero expressed strong approval of the ruling, saying it will governance at the grassroots level.
He described the apex court’s decision as both “courageous and transformative.”
Ajaero emphasized the judgment’s significance in restoring democratic principles and promoting national progress.

“This ruling marks a crucial step in revitalizing grassroots governance, which has been stifled for too long,” he stated.
According to Ajaero, the Supreme Court’s landmark decision not only reaffirms democracy but also restores people’s faith in the democratic process.
The labour leader also commended the Attorney General of the Federation for his dedication throughout the legal process.
“We urge that all necessary measures be taken to ensure this judgment is effectively implemented and not undermined,” he added.
