LAUTECH Entrance

Fresh strike action Looms in LAUTECH as ASUU Talks tough

NEWS DIGEST – Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) chapter of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso yesterday threatened another round of strike action.
This is coming as the lecturers accused the Oyo and Osun state government of failing to respect agreements reached with them.
The union, in a statement by its chairman, Biodun Olaniran and secretary, Toyin Abegunrin, said it was surprising that the governments refused to attend to their funding responsibilities of the university after auditing personnel and accounts.
LAUTECH, a higher institution owned by both states, recently resumed from ASUU eight month strike.
The union said the institution lacked adequate funding and that staff were owed 10 month salaries and promotion arrears.
It also said there had been no singular infrastructural development at the institution since the inception of the present administrations in the two states.
It would be recalled that the lecturers embarked upon a strike action in 2016 and another in 2017 over same reason.
