NEWS DIGEST- Honorable Mohammed Musa Kiripko has officially assumed the role of Chairman of Lapai Local Government Area, succeeding Honorable Mu’azu Hamidu Jantabo who has been appointed as Niger State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the leadership of Umar Mohammed Bago.

The handing-over ceremony took place yesterday, September 7, 2023, at the local government’s secretariat in Lapai, marking a momentous event. 

Kiripko was presented with a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), recognizing his position as the new chairman.

In a statement to News Digest after the ceremony, Kiripko expressed his commitment to implementing an open-door policy and promised to bring development to the council.

He emphasized the importance of respecting the rule of law and defending the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Kiripko’s political journey began in 1991 when he served as the Personal Assistant to Honorable Abdul Ebbo, a former member of the House of Representatives. 

He has been actively involved in the progress of Lapai, earning admiration from the local population over the past two decades. Previously, Kiripko served as a two-time vice chairman under the leadership of Jantabo.
