The speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has expressed his sorrow over the passing of Adeyinka Oyun, the controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service’s Kwara State Command.

Danladi-Salihu expressed sympathy to the late CP’s brother, the deputy speaker, as well as to the deceased’s family.

The Speaker’s Special Advisor for Media, Sheu Abdulqadir Yusuf, stated in a statement that the state had lost a distinguished son.

Oyun passed away at his home in the Aiyetoro community in the Sango-Kulende neighborhood of the state capital of Ilorin early on Saturday morning.

“The late CP Oyun was a dedicated and committed public servant who served the NCS diligently as Squadron Commander, Vice Principal of Academics Borstal Training Institution Gannon in Kwara State, Officer in Charge of Old Ilorin Custodial Centre Oke-kura, Ilorin, and Zone “F” Controller of Operations in Ibadan, Oyo, and Cross River States.

“We have lost another illustrious Kwaran in CP Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun, who has served Nigeria in various capacities at the Correctional Service; his death is a great loss to us, and we will sorely miss him.”

The Speaker prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort the family. “Our condolences go to the family of Mr Oyun, especially my brother and friend, Rt. Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode, the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, and all those the deceased left behind.

“The Speaker prays God to grant CP Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement read.

According to family sources, the late Controller of Prisons drove home after visiting a barbershop on Friday night without showing any symptoms of illness.

Sources at the Correctional Service headquarters in Ilorin stated that the deceased was scheduled to retire in August 2025.
