NEWS DIGEST – Three football administrators have picked chairmanship nomination forms for the Kwara Football Association elections billed for Feb. 14, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) investigation reveals.

NAN gathered from the Kwara FA on Wednesday in Ilorin that those contesting the chairmanship included the Chairman of Ilorin East Football Council, Alhaji Toyin Olokoba.

It was learnt that Olokoba’s counterpart in Patigi Football Council, Idris Jibri, would also contest as well as a former member of the defunct Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Board, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa.

Olokoba is currently the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, while Jubril, a grassroots football administrator, is the Founder of Jibril Taka Patigi Academy.

Wopa, a supporter of youth teams like Barrier FC, was instrumental to the promotion of the club to Nationwide League II last season.

He is also a  former footballer, public commentator and political analyst.

Wopa had also served as member of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Board under the leadership of Victor Runsome Baribote.

It was further gathered that only Abdulkadri Shuaib had so far picked the form to contest for the position of Vice Chairman.

Shuaib, a former Kwara United goalkeeper, is currently working with the Kwara Football Academy. (NAN)
