Two private tertiary institutions in the state of Kebbi have been closed down by the government due to their failure to remit funds to the state’s treasury.

The Lamido Umaru Mutube College of Advanced Studies and Health Sciences, Dakingari, and the SAHAM College of Health Sciences and Technology, Zuru, are the institutions that have been suspended.

The state’s Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, in a statement, said the two private institutions would remain shut until they pay up their two-year dues to the government.

The statement was signed by the director of higher education, Aliyu Shehu Jega.

Despite reminders and warnings sent by the ministry, he stated that the institutions had neglected to pay their dues for two years.

“We have nothing against them; we only suspended them because they refuse to pay the yearly dues to the government.

“We will reopen them immediately they pay their dues to the government,” he said.
