The Kano State Government has restated its commitment to improving the education of girls within the state.

This pledge was communicated by the Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, while representing Gov Abba Yusuf at the two-day Kano Education Summit 2024.

The summit, with the theme “Towards Strengthening Retention and Completion of Girl’s Education,” was organised by the Adolescent Health and Information Projects (AHIP). This initiative is a collaboration between Christian Aid and other developmental partners.

Highlighting the government’s efforts, Governor Yusuf announced the provision of 30 trailer loads of learning materials and 70 shuttle buses to enhance education across the state.

Commissioner Doguwa further disclosed plans to establish a state council on education, review current education policies, bolster the education data bank, reform school feeding programmes, and establish special education schools. These initiatives are aimed at revitalising the education sector within Kano State.
