The Kano State Police has rescued 7 children, aged 3 to 8, from inter-state trafficking and abduction.

Police Commissioner Usaini Gumel revealed that victims, mostly minors, were sold at prices ranging from N300,000 to N600,000. Nine suspects were arrested as part of the dismantling of a trafficking syndicate operating across Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra, and Imo states.

“It was found during investigations that a victim Mohammed Ilya who was abducted from Bauchi but his name changed to Chidiebere was sold recently at Nnewi in Anambra State,” Gumel said.

Nine persons involved in inter-state trafficking and abduction of children have been arrested for buying and selling of minors by the Kano State Police Command

He explained that the suspects were apprehended after conducting several intelligence-led operations through which the long time cycle of inter-state trafficking syndicates hibernating around Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra and Imo states was identified and dismantled.

He said the command would collaborate with the state government to ensure that all the abducted children were safely returned and reunited with their original family members.

The commissioner assured members of the public that the command under his watch had put in place reinforced security measures to end the menace once and for all.
