Kano Palace Tensions: Bayero Takes Shelter at Nassarawa Royal Residence

The deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, has moved into the Nassarawa royal residence after failing to take over the main palace at Kofar Kudu.

The federal government had planned to secretly bring Bayero into the palace, but the reinstated Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, returned early Saturday morning with Governor Abba Yusuf and other officials, securing the palace.

Bayero arrived at the airport around 1:30 am with armed security.

Realizing that Sanusi II had already occupied the main palace, Bayero decided to stay at the Nassarawa residence. Heavy security, including police and soldiers, has been stationed at Nassarawa to protect him.
