Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State launched a Small Scale Business Monthly Startup grant of N50,000 for 5,600 women hailing from the state’s 44 Local Government Areas.

The program, inaugurated at the Government House Kano, aims to uplift the economic standing of the recipients.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the significant role small-scale businesses play in the state’s economic development, underscoring the importance of supporting women entrepreneurs.

To implement this initiative, selected 100 women from each of the 36 Local Government Areas and 200 women from the eight metropolitan Local Government Areas received N50,000 each, totaling N260 million monthly.

The Governor pledged to continue this monthly support throughout his administration’s four-year tenure to alleviate poverty among indigent beneficiaries.

A Compliance Committee has been established to oversee fund disbursement, comprising women councillors, party leaders, Kwankwasiyya women leaders, and the Chairpersons of the 44 Local Governments.

Governor Yusuf urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely to improve their economic status, cautioning that those who received the initial grant installment would not be eligible for subsequent rounds of the program.
