Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the Kano State Emirate Council Establishment Bill 2024.

The bill was earlier passed by the Kano State House of Assembly.

After signing the bill, Governor Yusuf highlighted its role in preserving the state’s cultural values and norms.

He mentioned that the law will help connect the people at the grassroots with the government.

Under the new law, the Kano Emirate Council will be led by a first-class Emir, with second-class Emirs from Rano, Gaya, and Karaye as members.

The Governor also said that the names of the new second-class Emirs would be announced soon.

These second-class Emirs will have authority only within their local government areas.
