The Kaduna State Security Council has issued a stern warning to demonstrators regarding the obstruction of public roads and the harassment of innocent civilians. This cautionary message comes in response to the recent events unfolding in the state.

The council’s action comes in the wake of an incident on Thursday morning, where protesters blocked the Gonin Gora section of the Kaduna-Abuja Highway. This blockade was in reaction to reports of a bandit attack in Unguwan Auta of the Gonin Gora area, located in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state. The resulting road closure caused significant disruption to commuters, who were unable to access the route.

In an official statement released by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, it was revealed that the Security Council members, including Commissioner of Police Audu Ali, Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) Abdul Adamu Eneche, Garrison Commander of One Division Nigerian Army Brigadier General Muhammad Kana, and Aruwan himself, along with security forces, intervened to dismantle the roadblocks and reopen the road for motorists.

Aruwan expressed the council’s dissatisfaction with the practice of blocking roads, which not only inconveniences citizens and travellers but also violates their rights and disrupts public utilities. Following the intervention, the council engaged with community leaders to address the issue.

“As of the time of this security update, citizens and motorists are plying the Gonin Gora axis of Kaduna-Abuja Road without obstruction,” stated the Commissioner, indicating that normalcy had been restored to the affected area.
