Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has announced another increase in electricity tariffs for Band A customers who receive 20-24 hours of daily power supply.

The announcement, made on Wednesday by Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the head of corporate communications, states that the tariff has been raised to N209.9 per kilowatt-hour, up from N206.80 previously.

This marks the second tariff hike for Band A customers following the April 3 increase.

According to Kaduna Electric, the adjustment, effective from July 1, 2024, applies to both prepaid and postpaid customers.

The company reassures customers on Band A feeders of uninterrupted power supply within the 20-24 hours timeframe specified under the Service Based Tariff regime.

The statement clarifies that tariffs for Bands B, C, D, and E remain unchanged. Previously, on April 3, 2024, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission approved a significant tariff increase of 245 percent, raising rates to N225 per kilowatt-hour from N68.

Subsequently, in May 2024, amidst customer outcry, electricity distribution companies implemented a slight reduction in the approved rates, as confirmed by NERC.
