A Jos-based medical doctor, Noah Kekere, who is in police custody following allegations of organ harvesting by his patients, has reportedly turned insane.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Kekere was arrested last Wednesday by the Nasarawa Gwong Police Division, following a complaint by one Kehinde Kamal who accused the medical practitioner of harvesting one of her kidneys during an operation in 2018.

Confirming Mr Kekere’s arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alfred Alabo, said the doctor was undergoing investigations at the police headquarters.

Inside sources at the police headquarters, however, told our correspondent that Mr Kekere had suddenly “turned insane”.

According to the source, Mr Kekere had torn his clothes and had been behaving insanely.

The source added that Mr Kekere had been admitted at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, for medical examinations.

“He was in the cell and it was later discovered that he started tearing his clothes in the cell and started behaving like a mentally unstable person.

“This made the police rush him to Jos University Teaching Hospital in handcuff,” the source disclosed.

Another source at the JUTH also confirmed that Mr Kekere was admitted.

“On arrival, he was just screaming, yelling and shouting. He was saying ‘they want to silence my daughter’,” he added.

According to the source, armed mobile policemen were deployed at the psychiatric unit of the hospital.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that after Mr Kekere’s arrest, many victims came out to recount their ordeals in the hands of the doctor.

Sources said at least four persons have confirmed living with one kidney after undergoing medical procedures in Mr Kekere’s Murna Hospital located at Nassarawa Gwong in the Plateau State capital.

An elderly man, who pleaded anonymity, said: “I was scanned here in Jos yesterday, and it has been confirmed that one of my kidneys was removed.”
