The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed readiness for the commencement of admission into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions for 2024.

In its weekly news bulletin published on Monday, JAMB disclosed that the long-awaited annual policy meeting will take place on Thursday.

Scheduled to be chaired by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, the 2024 policy meeting on July 18 in Abuja will authorize the start of this year’s admission process.

The meeting will also feature the National Tertiary Admissions’ Performance-Merit Award (NATAP-M Awards), with a top prize of N500 million and N250 million collectively for consolation winners.

Key stakeholders, including vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, and other critical players, will convene to approve guidelines for the 2024 admission exercise.

This includes reviewing the performance of the 2023 admissions and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

According to the bulletin, the meeting will set the minimum admission scores, emphasizing that these are guidelines and not cut-off marks.

The decisions made collectively will guide the norms for admission, with strict directives against institutions commencing admissions before guidelines are endorsed.

“This meeting declares the commencement of the year’s admission exercise, establishing norms that all institutions must adhere to,” the bulletin affirmed, highlighting that any deviation will result in sanctions against erring institutions.
