The Israeli military said on Monday that it had thwarted Hezbollah’s midnight rocket attack, a Shiite militant organization based in Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces, or IDF, claimed to have destroyed a military installation and an observation station in Lebanon as well as other Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

“Four Hezbollah terrorist cells operating on the border with Lebanon were struck.’’

The IDF said that the cells had planned to fire an anti-tank missile at the Israeli town of Shlomi.

Since Israel launched massive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in retaliation for the Hamas massacres on Oct. 7.

There have been increasingly more violent incidents on the border between Israel and southern Lebanon, which Hezbollah exerts control over.

Deaths have been reported on both sides.

Given the increasing intensity of Hezbollah attacks, Israel desired to liberate further towns in the northern region of the nation.

Yoav Galant, the minister of defense, announced over the weekend that he had given the go-ahead for the evacuation of 14 more settlements near the border with Lebanon.

Israel established a four-kilometer exclusion zone along its border with Lebanon a week ago.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, cautioned Hezbollah against starting a second front in its battle with Hamas, which controls Gaza, saying doing so would be a lifetime mistake.
