The Zamfara State unit of the National Cash Transfer Programme has initiated an inquiry into the reported non-payment of over 10,000 cash transfer beneficiaries in Tsafe Local Council.

Last Thursday, approximately 10,000 beneficiaries from 17 communities within the council area gathered to protest against the alleged lack of payment they have experienced since being enrolled in 2018.

Nasir Ja’afar, the Training and Communication Officer of the unit, addressed the press in Gusau, stating, “We are aware of the outcry emerging from communities in Tsafe regarding the non-payment of benefits.

I urge the affected beneficiaries and communities to remain patient, as this issue has already been escalated to the National Cash Transfer Office in Abuja.”

The National Cash Transfer Programme was introduced in September 2016 as part of the Federal Government’s broader initiatives to promote growth and social inclusion, aiming to tackle significant social concerns. It is a vital element of the National Social Safety Nets Project, which is supported by the World Bank and aims to offer financial assistance to impoverished and vulnerable households.
