Three inmates, including Hammed Adeboyejo convicted for armed robbery and murder, Fatai Taiwo Akande convicted for murder, and Aliu Oguntona sentenced for sexual offenses, managed to scale the fence of the Ijebu Ode Correctional Centre in Ogun State during the early hours of Saturday.

The Ijebu Imushin Area Command of So-Safe Corps, a state-established security agency, issued a statement alerting the public to the escape and urged citizens to contact authorities if they spot any of the fugitives.

Victor Oyeleke, Spokesman for the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, confirmed the incident, clarifying that it was not a jailbreak but an escape. A search party has been mobilized, utilizing biometrics and family contacts, with the assurance that the escapees will be apprehended promptly in collaboration with other security agencies.
