Ilorin Hit by Fuel Scarcity: Long Queues, High Prices

Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, is experiencing acute fuel scarcity, with only a few filling stations selling petrol to motorists. This has resulted in long queues of vehicles in the state capital.

The scarcity has led to arbitrary fuel pump prices, with major marketers selling petrol at prices ranging from N625 to N650 per litre, while other marketers are selling at prices between N750 and N1,000 per litre, depending on the location.

Customers outside the state capital are also forced to pay more as the pump price has reportedly risen to N1,000 and above.

Commercial transporters have also increased transport fares as a result of the arbitrary increase in the pump price of petrol.

Short distances, which hitherto attracted between N100 and N150 in the state capital, now cost N200 and above.

Meanwhile, a manager of one of the stations told a media house that there is shortage of supply by the NNPCL, the sole importer of the product.

He said they were awaiting Dangote Refinery to begin distribution of petrol soon.
