HoR Leadership: Group endorse Tajudeen Abbas for Speaker

A group under the aegis of Progressives in Academics (PRO-ACAD) has thrown weight behind Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, for speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

The group, in a statement signed by its leaders, Prof. Ikpefan Ailemen and Dr. Suleiman, M.B. on Tuesday, said Abbas has the qualities required to be speaker, describing him as a man of competence and integrity.

The group also stated that Abbas who is a former lecturer would support the reforms needed to transform the countries education sector.

“Good day Nigerians. It is with a great sense of responsibility and commitment to national development that we, the Progressives in Academics (PRO-ACAD), accept and support the emergence of Tajudeen Abbas as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

“The decision of PRO-ACAD to support the emergence of Honourable Tajudeen Abbas as the next Speaker of the House of Representatives is premised on his competence, capacity, intellectual sagacity, passion for Nigeria and integrity.

“These qualities will definitely make Tajudeen Abbas to complement the incoming president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in actualizing the progressive vision of the Renewed Hope administration. Besides, as a former lecturer, he would definitely be supportive of the reforms that are needed to transform Nigeria’s education sector.”

The group further urged other aspirants for the position to stap down and support the aspiration of Tajudeen Abbas for speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

“Furthermore, the Progressives in Academics (PRO-ACAD) strongly believe that the emergence of Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker would lead to the strengthening of the independence of the House of Representatives as well as establishing the required synergy between the House and the Executive Arm of government.

“From the foregoing, the Progressives in Academics (PRO-ACAD) endorse the nomination of Tajudeen Abbas as the APC preferred aspirant for the office of the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

“Finally, we call on the other aspirants to step down for Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and support the position of the party and the incoming president on the choice of the leadership of the National Assembly.”
