Gunmen have kidnapped Sheikh Quasim Musa, the chief imam of Iyara in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident occurred on Monday night outside his residence in Ilukpa, Iyara. The assailants, executing a commando-style operation, unleashed a barrage of gunfire before forcibly taking him.

Mr. E.K. Adebayo, the Public Relations Officer of the Iyara Development Association, condemned the abduction as cowardly and unfortunate, particularly amidst the sacred observance of Ramadan. He urgently appealed to relevant authorities to intervene and secure the safe release of the revered religious figure.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, verified the incident on Tuesday.
He affirmed that the Commissioner of Police had swiftly mobilized tactical teams, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), rapid response units, divisional police officers, local vigilantes, and other security agencies to mount a concerted effort to rescue the abducted imam unharmed.
