The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Prof Godwin Emezue, and his wife were abducted *[when]* by gunmen at a filling station near Amachara in the Umuahia South council area.

Reports indicate that three armed individuals carried out the kidnapping yesterday at the filling station. They forced Prof Emezue into a Lexus SUV and quickly sped off towards the Abia-Imo border.
As of now, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Abia State Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, has not responded to text messages or calls made to her mobile number.
