Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed relief at the news that Jürgen Klopp would leave Liverpool at the end of the season, acknowledging the German departure as a significant shift in their intense rivalry.

Despite Guardiola’s success in recent years, Klopp has been a formidable competitor for domestic honors, and Guardiola paid tribute to the German’s managerial prowess and character.

Guardiola empathized with Klopp’s decision, citing his own experience leaving Barcelona in 2012 due to fatigue.

With Liverpool leading the Premier League once more, Guardiola eagerly anticipates another opportunity to challenge their dominance and bring their Premier League success story to a close.

The last encounter between their teams is set for March 9 in a pivotal title race showdown at Anfield.

Guardiola said: “I have the feeling that when he leaves at the end of the season, part of us at Manchester City is leaving too. They have been our biggest rival, Liverpool in the last years.

“All the managers will [feel tired] when you’ve done many years. I feel it completely. I felt it in Barcelona so I understand it completely.

“He’s been my biggest rival so I think he will be missed.”

“I am a little bit pleased because without him I will sleep a little bit better the night before we play against Liverpool but I wish him all the best. He doesn’t admit it but he will be back.”
