NEWS DIGEST– Abubakar Muhammad Adam, a level-400 Accounting student of the Gombe State University (GSU) reportedly collapsed and passed away on Monday while in the midst of writing his examination.

The news of this unfortunate incident quickly spread among his classmates, who took to social media to share the heartbreaking incident. 

According to The Whistlers report, his classmates, immediate action was taken as Adam was swiftly rushed to the university clinic upon his collapse. However, despite these efforts, he was declared dead upon arrival, leaving the entire university community in shock and mourning.

A statement released by the university management conveyed the sad news of Adam’s passing and provided some details surrounding the incident. It revealed that the young student, identified with the registration number UG18/ASAC/1113, was promptly attended to at the university clinic during his accounting exams. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he could not be revived and passed away at the clinic. 

Following this heartbreaking news, Adam’s body was then transported to the specialist hospital mortuary accompanied by university officials, including the university ambulance driver, a representative from the university clinic, the University Deputy Chief Security Officer (CSO), the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) VP, and some of his close friends.

Furthermore, the statement mentioned that Adam’s uncle, who also serves as his guardian in Gombe, joined the group at the mortuary. Notably, Adam’s uncle is the headmaster of Kamara Primary School, Bolari in Gombe. The uncle took the initiative to inform Adam’s father and other family members of the tragic incident. 

While the university community mourns the loss of a promising young student, a university official, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the sequence of events leading up to Adam’s passing. The official verified that the student was indeed rushed to the university clinic after his collapse, but sadly, there was no chance for him to be saved, as he was already deceased upon arrival.

As of now, the official state authorities, including the police, have not been formally informed about this tragedy. The State Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, ASP Mahid Mua’zu, confirmed the lack of information regarding the incident, indicating that no official report has been received by the police as at the time of filing this report.
