10th Assembly: Gur endorses Betara for Speaker

NEWS DIGEST – An indigene of Biu in Borno State, Mamman Ibrahim Gur, has endorsed Muktar Betara, a member of the house, for the position of speaker of the 10th assembly.

Betara, who represents Biu/Kwaya Kusar/Bayo/Shani federal constituency of Borno, is the chairman of the house committee on appropriation.

In a statement on Monday, Mamman Gur said Betara is the best man for the job following his outstanding achievements in providing basic amenities for the people of his constituency.

He said, “Honourable Betara is the only person who enjoys a thick clout of respect and general acceptability across the members-elect of the different parties.

“We must all agree that Nigeria needs someone with the ability and capacity to unify it, the competence and skills to drive an effective legislature, a bridge builder between the other arms of government and above all, a man with serene humility, character and fear of God in discharging the duties associated with the office.

“That person is no other than Hon Muktar Betara Aliyu (OON).

“If you ever get to visit his constituency you would see the outstanding work he has down for his people from health centres, schools, police station, roads and lots more, Betara is just the right man for the job.

“I call on Nigerians to come out and give their support to him as he is the best man suited for the job at this crucial moment in the Nigerian polity, the statement concluded.
