Newly sworn-in governor of Kogi state,Usman Ododo, has pledged his commitment to open and firm leadership, emphasizing the importance of inclusive governance as he took his oath of office.
In his inaugural address on Saturday, Ododo dismissed the idea of being an “ethnic governor.” He assured that his administration would prioritize the needs of all residents, irrespective of their religion, ethnicity, or political affiliations.
Ododo expressed his gratitude for the support he received from his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, and President Bola Tinubu during the election process. He called for unity among the people of Kogi, urging them to transcend ethnic boundaries.

Ododo promised swift action and outlined a vision centered on people-oriented projects aimed at improving the well-being of Kogi’s populace. He further emphasized his intention to build upon the foundation laid by the previous governor, ensuring continuity and progress.
“Our government shall hit the ground running with people-oriented projects that will focus on the well-being of our people,” Gov. Ododo said in his address.
Describing his administration as “open, firm, and rugged,” Ododo invited investors to help transform Kogi into an “investment hub.” He highlighted the state’s safety and readiness for collaborative efforts with the private sector.
He concluded by saying his administration will treat the creation of job opportunities for the youth as a key priority for his administration.
