Governor Mbah and his NYSC Certificate, By Adnan Mukhtar
NEWS DIGEST –  It’s very obvious that Governor Peter Mbah will soon be sacked by the tribunal if he fails to prove that his NYSC certificate is not fake. It was recklessness on the side of the governor to use a fake NYSC certificate as part of his credentials.
I wonder why some people lie about certificates, the question is how did the governor get that certificate as a lawyer for that matter?
Mbah can use his SSCE to contest for governorship. It’s the minimum qualification to contest for every political office but he chose to embrass himself and the people of the Coal City.
I shook my head when I watched the NYSC Director-General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, a Brigadier General on Arise Morning Show telling the world that he told the governor the truth about the status of his certificate when he visited him.
Dogara described Mbah’s certificate as fake but the governor went ahead to sue NYSC over the matter demanding a 20 billion damage.
I thought the case of former speaker Ibrahim Salisu Buhari has taught us some lessons about certificate forgery until the Kemi Adeosun Saga, a former Finance Minister, Adebayo Shittu, a former Communications Minster and the former PDP governorship candidate for Kwara State in 2019, Razaq Atunwa, a trained lawyer like Governor Mbah.
While filling my nomination form for House of Assembly at Wadata Plaza in 2022, a lady who was a staff at PDP headquarters approached and cautioned me not to lie about my qualification. What took her attention was seeing me filling the qualification section in my form.
She advised that is better I consider writing my SSCE in that section to avoid problem.
I just smile and told her that I won’t lie about qualification.
Peter Mbah won that election, it appears that he will lose in court with the NYSC Director-General as a star witness in his case at the tribunal.
