Government Denies Proposal of N105,000 Minimum Wage

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has denied claims circulating on the Internet regarding the Federal Government’s proposal of N105,000 as the new minimum wage.

Reports had surfaced alleging that Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, suggested N105,000 as the new minimum wage.

However, Onanuga clarified on Thursday via his social media handle that Edun did not propose N105,000 as the minimum wage, dismissing it as speculation.

He said: “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false.”

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had asked Edun to present a new wage template within two days.

However, labour was yet to confirm if the government has made a new offer to it.
