Students of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State, on Friday, protested what they described as incessant robbery attacks against them off the campus of the institution.

Singing different songs of solidarity, the demonstrators blocked the heavily traveled Akure-Ilesa Road, resulting in traffic jams on the freeway.

According to the students, they organized a protest to demand that the government, the institution’s administration, and the security services take action to protect them from the bandits’ actions.

Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the command had dispatched its personnel to the vicinity in order to prevent the protest from being taken over by miscreants.
