The Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has commenced a special operation targeting motorists who engage in wrong-way driving on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to Anthony Uga, the sector commander, the aim of the operation is to curb this dangerous driving behavior and reduce the fatal accidents along the route.

Uga stated that the operation, which began on Wednesday along the expressway, will also address other traffic violations to improve orderliness in the area.

He noted many loss of lives due to wrong-way driving, particularly on this route. According to him, offenders will have their vehicles seized, undergo a four-day public enlightenment program, and then be prosecuted in a mobile court for appropriate sanctions.

“We, therefore, warn motorists to desist from driving against traffic, especially on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to avoid unnecessary loss of innocent lives. In addition, they should obey all traffic rules and regulations and install speed limit devices to reduce accidents on the highway,” Mr Uga said.
