Four individuals have been successfully rescued from the debris of a collapsed two-storey building adjacent to Cupid Hotel on Sultan Dansuki Road, Phase 2, Site 2, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.

Mrs. Florence Wenegieme, Acting Director of the FCT Federal Emergency Management Department, confirmed the rescue operation in a statement on Saturday, detailing the response efforts initiated upon notification from passers-by and a distress call received at 6:45 am via the 112 emergency toll-free number.

“Two of the rescued victims have been promptly taken to Kubwa General Hospital, while intensive efforts continue to locate any other potentially trapped individuals,” Wenegieme stated.

She underscored the collaborative effort involving the FCT Emergency Management Department, National Emergency Management Agency, FCT Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Civil Defense Corps, and Nigeria Police at the scene.

The collapsed building, which formerly served as a hotel but was later converted into 45 self-contained apartments, remains a focal point of search and rescue operations.

Wenegieme emphasized ongoing efforts to ensure every possible survivor is evacuated safely, while also urging strict adherence to building codes and the use of quality materials in construction practices to prevent such incidents in the future.
