NEWS DIGEST- The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans to establish the FCT University of Technology in Abuja.

The move is aimed at increasing access to tertiary education and decongesting the FCT College of Education Zuba. The Mandate Secretary for the FCTA Education Secretariat, Dr Danlami Hayyo, announced the plan during the inauguration of Deans, Directors, Head of Departments, Chairmen, and members of Standing Committees of the College of Education, Zuba.

According to Hayyo, the FCTA is dedicated to supporting the government’s education agenda, and education remains a priority sector of the current administration. The FCT University of Technology will help reduce the pressure at the College of Education, Zuba, and there are also plans to establish a polytechnic to accommodate the large number of youths seeking tertiary education in the FCT.

Hayyo also pledged to guarantee improved funding for the FCT College of Education Zuba to improve its infrastructure and critical facilities. The move is expected to improve access to education and provide more opportunities for students in the FCT.

“Establishing the university will help to reduce the pressure at the college, and if possible, we will also establish a polytechnic to accommodate the large number of youths seeking tertiary education in FCT.”
