The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed a foiled kidnapping attempt by gunmen targeting the traditional Ruler of Ninzo Chiefdom, Alhaji Umar Musa, on Wednesday night. The chiefdom is situated in the Sanga Local Government Area of the state.

According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, while Alhaji Umar Musa escaped unharmed, his wife’s whereabouts remain unknown. Security forces have been deployed to the forests around Sanga to locate and rescue the abducted wife.

The Ninzo Development Association, represented by its President Prof. Moses Audi and Secretary Silas Anche, denounced the attempted kidnapping and expressed concern over the disappearance of the chief’s wife. However, they urged the public to remain calm and allow the government to fulfill its responsibility.

In addition to the chief’s wife, the terrorists abducted his grandchildren and three others during the incident.

This incident echoes previous cases of abduction in the region. In 2021, Gyet Maude, the traditional ruler of the Jaba chiefdom in Kaduna State, was kidnapped while on his farm in Gitata, a border town between Kaduna and Nasarawa states. Despite the kidnappers’ demand for N100 million ransom, Maude was released two days later.
