The Federal Government has revealed plans to establish recycling plants in all 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria.

Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Environment, shared this initiative during a workshop in Abeokuta on Wednesday, emphasizing the importance of a circular economy.

The ministry aims to address challenges such as inadequate policies and funds by implementing a national plastic waste recycling program and a community-based waste management initiative.

Despite obstacles, the government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is determined to achieve a clean, circular, and thriving economy in 2024.

The workshop was organised by the Ogun State Government and the State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) with the theme “Chemicals and Waste Management: Circular Solutions for a Sustainable Economy.”
