The Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba has ordered the deployment of commissioners and deputy commissioners of police for each of the 109 senatorial districts in the 36 states of the federation and FCT ahead of the 2023 election.

According to a police signal sighted by our correspondent with signal number DTO:13104502/2023, three commissioners were posted to each of the 36 states, which Sokoto, Rivers and Cross River States got four additional CPs for smooth conduct of the election.

Kaduna, Jigawa, Ogun, Taraba, Kogi, Abia, and a few others however got two commissioners and one deputy commissioner to lead police operations in their senatorial districts.

The signal, which was signed by the force secretary and copied to all police units, formations and departments, said the postings take effect from February 20.

“The inspector general of police has ordered the posting of the following commissioners, and deputy commissioners to command and senatorial district against their names,” the signal read in part.

According to the posting, the current CP for Kano, Maman Dauda, will retain his position, while Ita Lazarus Uko-Udom takes charge of Kano Central Senatorial District; Banji Badru Lawal, Kano South Senatorial District and; Muhammed Yakubu, Kano North Senatorial District.

In Lagos, the newly posted commissioner of police, Idowu Ohohunwa, also retains his position, while Arungwa Udo will take charge of Lagos East Senatorial District; Adepoju Ilori, Lagos Central Senatorial District and; Ibrahim Baba, Lagos West Senatorial District.

The police signal added that Okong Effiong, Kayinde Longe, Samuel Musa, and Yomi Olanrenwaju will take charge of Rivers State, with one additional commissioner, Aderemi Adeoye.
