In a week of intensified operations across North-East, North-Central, and North-West regions, the Defence Headquarters reported significant progress in the fight against terrorism.

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, held a press briefing in Abuja to provide updates on the Armed Forces’ actions.

The armed forces managed to eliminate 50 terrorists and apprehend 114 others.

Furthermore, they successfully rescued 49 kidnapped hostages during this period.

In the North East, Operation Hadin Kai troops continued their relentless efforts against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, leading to some terrorists surrendering in Borno and Yobe.

They also recovered 17 AK47 rifles, one AK47 loaded with 21 rounds of special ammunition, a hand grenade, 137 rounds of special ammunition, and four mobile phones.

Additionally, 12 terrorists were neutralized, 26 were arrested, and six kidnapped hostages were rescued.

Operation Safe Haven in the North Central areas of Plateau and Kaduna states made several arrests, recovering weapons and rescuing three kidnapped hostages.

Meanwhile, Operation Whirl Stroke conducted raids and arrested suspected terrorists in Benue and the Federal Capital Territory. They also apprehended criminals and illegal oil bunkerers in parts of the FCT.

“In total, four terrorists were neutralized, 28 arrested, and one kidnapped hostage was rescued.In the North-West region, Operation Hadarin Daji forces carried out successful operations in Katsina, Kaduna, and Zamfara, neutralizing nine terrorists, arresting 12, and rescuing 25 kidnapped victims. They recovered multiple weapons and ammunition.

“The air component of Operation Hadarin Daji launched a successful air interdiction operation against the terrorist Kamilu Buzaru in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, neutralizing several terrorists and disrupting their logistics”, He added.
