Denmark earned a well-deserved point against England in Frankfurt, following an underwhelming 1-0 win over Serbia in their opening match of the tournament.
Harry Kane gave England an early lead after capitalizing on a Danish defensive error.

Hjulmand’s spectacular strike from outside the box levelled the score before half-time, and Denmark missed late chances to secure a famous victory. Despite this, England remains on top of Group C, two points clear of Slovenia, whom they will face in Cologne on Tuesday, along with Denmark.

Serbia’s late equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Slovenia also keeps their fate in their own hands. England manager Gareth Southgate, who avoids media coverage during tournaments to escape negative stories, may face criticism after another flat display from one of the pre-tournament favourites.

Denmark’s coach Kasper Hjulmand and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel claimed before the game that they would not seek revenge for their Euro 2020 semi-final loss to England three years ago.
However, Denmark showed significant improvement from their performances at the 2022 World Cup and in the draw against Slovenia at the start of Euro 2024 in Germany.

Both teams struggled on the bobbly pitch in Frankfurt, but England capitalized on a mistake from Denmark to take the lead.
Victor Kristiansen failed to track Kyle Walker’s run, and his deflected low cross found Kane, who scored his 13th goal at major tournaments.

England’s failure to build on early 1-0 leads has been a consistent criticism under Southgate. However, Denmark responded well to conceding and equalized with a stunning strike from Hjulmand.

Southgate made changes in search of a winner, substituting Alexander-Arnold for Gallagher and later sacrificing Kane, Foden, and Saka for Eze, Watkins, and Bowen.
Denmark had the better chance to win in the closing stages, with Christensen and Hojbjerg both coming close.

The match highlighted England’s struggles to maintain leads and the need for improvement in their performances as the tournament progresses.
