In a recent operation, Delta State’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended Usman Bello, a 40-year-old suspected armed robber who had been masquerading as mentally unstable to avoid detection. The arrest took place in an uncompleted building along the Issele-Asagba Expressway, where Bello had been hiding.

During the operation, police recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol from the suspect, highlighting the sophisticated means employed by criminals to evade law enforcement.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday. The arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of the Delta State police to crack down on innovative criminal tactics and ensure the safety of the community.

“The suspect who pretends to be a mentally unstable person is in custody and investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.
