No curfew in Jalingo, says Taraba Governor
NEWS DIGEST – Governor Darius Ishaku on Monday urged residents of Jalingo -the Taraba State capital, to go about their normal businesses as no curfew was imposed in the state. He, however, cautioned against staying too late in the night.
He said the Taraba State government has strengthened security presence in communities around Jalingo where a militia group unleashed terror on innocent people on Sunday. He spoke in a statement, signed by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu.
The statement reads: “The deployment of security men has greatly helped in normalising the security situation in the affected areas within a short time.

“Government, therefore, wishes to assure the people to remain calm because the situation is under control. The government also wishes to advise the people to continue to cooperate with security agencies to ensure stability of peace now prevailing in those areas.
“No formal curfew has been imposed on the affected areas as being speculated because the security situation no longer makes it necessary to do so, but government wishes to advise the people not stay out late in the night during which period there will be heavy security surveillance and patrol in the affected areas.
“Government also wishes to thank the security agencies deployed to the areas for doing a good job of containing the attacks and urged them to remain vigilant to prevent further attacks.”
