NEWS DIGEST – A Minna Magistrates’ Court, has ordered the remand in prison of one unemployed man, Nasir Bello for allegedly stealing four smartphones.

The defendant is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft, contrary to Sections 348 and 287 of the penal code law respectively.

Magistrate Deborah Solomon, ordered the remand of the defendant in prison custody as requested by the prosecutor, Insp Aliyu Yakubu, who told the court that he was yet to conclude investigation on the matter.

Solomon, therefore, adjourned the case until Sept. 11.

Earlier, the police prosecutor told the court that one Joe Ndakotsu of Zungeru in Wushishi Local Government Area, reported the matter on Aug. 26.

Yakubu alleged that the defendant trespassed into the complainant’s room and made away with an IPhone, Gionee, Techno and Blackberry smartphones all worth about N80,000.

He told the court that the defendant also stole N15,600 cash from the complainant’s room.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, thereafter, prayed the court for adjournment to enable police complete  investigation into the matter. (NAN)
