Catholic Priest and Parishioner Abducted in Anambra State

Gunmen abducted Catholic Reverend Father Christian Ike and a parishioner named Ogbonnia Aneke on Sunday in Anambra State.

The Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia in Anambra State made this announcement, urging prayers for their safe release.

The Church stated that Father Ike and Ogbonnia were kidnapped on their way back from Mass at an outstation of St. Matthew’s Parish, Ajalli, Orumba North in Anambra State.

“Rev. Fr. Lawrence Nwankwo. Please pray for the release of Rev. Fr. Christian Ike and Mr Ogbonnia Aneke, who were kidnapped this morning around 9.45 a.m. as they were returning from Mass in an outstation of St. Matthew’s Parish, Ajalli, Orumba North, LGA.

“We implore the maternal intercession of Our Mother of Perpetual Help for their release”.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has yet to react to the adduction as of the time of this report.

Recall that last month, a popular Catholic priest in the Onitsha Diocese of Anambra State, Reverend Father Basil Gbuzuo was abducted.
