Buhari Plans to scuttle 2019 Elections -IMN Alleges
NEWS DIGEST – The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari plans to stay in power longer than 2019 without conducting an election.
The IMN, popularly known as Shiite group made the allegation in a statement on its website demanding the freedom of Shiites leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
The movement alleged that a document from the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) which was labeled ‘secret’ accused the Shiite group of planning violent protests.
The statement posted on the website read thus: “The Buhari-led APC government appears to want to use Islamic Movement as an excuse to scuttle the forthcoming general elections and by extension elongate its tenure in office. Feelers from this appeared when a secret intelligence report doctored by the security forces was recently exposed alleging that Islamic Movement was raising a squad to violently disrupt the 2019 elections.
“The two-edged plot would see that the Islamic Movement in Nigeria is framed up and projected as violent group, out to violently disrupt the 2019 elections. This will justify yet another escalation of violent clampdown on the Movement, and after some series of false flag operations in its name, the government will declare the horizons generally unsafe to conduct the elections, effectively elongating its tenure.”
The News Digest contacted the Nigerian Airforce spokesman, Air Vice Marshall Adetokunbo Adesanya who denied having knowledge of any such document.
Adesanya said: “I am not aware of such document. I would need to find out if such a document exist before I can respond.”
When the News Digest sent him a copy of the said document, Adesanya said he could not react as he was not in town.
Included in this News item is the picture of the document as released by the movement on its website.
